The setting for the Announcement of Jesus’ Birth took place in the most unlikely place. God ignored His heartland and His Temple to go to the little village of Nazareth. When Nathaniel was first told about Jesus, he questioned, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” because Nazareth was an area that was the subject of Jewish contempt because of its ethnically mixed population. But what might seem weird to us demonstrates God’s love of all people. No one is outside the range of God’s love.

LOVE OFFERING

Pastor Arturo’s son, Arturo, Jr. (hereafter I will call him Junior) lives and works in Brazil. Last fall he was mugged and left for dead. Thankfully a kind woman found him and took him to an Emergency Room where they treated his injuries for several weeks before he was allowed to go home. Since then, he has developed an issue where he is losing the eyesight in one of his eyes. He will be having surgery on February 27 (in Brazil). Because of the nature of the surgery, the doctors have requested a family member to be present for the surgery. Pastor Arturo and his other son, Jacob (which many of you know) will be flying down and staying for almost two weeks during Junior’s surgery and immediate recovery.
As you might imagine, between the flights, hotel, car rental and food, this will not be a cheap trip. I would like for us to take up a Love Offering for Pastor Arturo’s on February 22. Prayerfully consider how much God would have to give to assist this wonderful family in this time of need.
